Best Gardening Journal Ever!

I've had my eye on this journal for over a year, but I just couldn't see spending over $40 with shipping for a garden journal, especially when I wasn't sure what was going to work for me. So, I bought one for half that for last year that is nice, but not quite the thing for me. So, I splurged and took the plunge. Wow, I gotta tell you all, it is the finest garden journal ever! I got it from Lee Valley.

It is pretty thick at almost 500 pages and very well bound in sealed fabric to make it more weather proof. Very nice paper that is going to stand up to the repeated shuffling through that a gardener will do over time.

Probably the best thing about it is the logic of it. Each page is dated, but has divisions for 10 years of that date per page. This makes it so much easier to compare the status of things from year to year. Each entry has the place for the year, the predominant weather, temps and plenty of room for almost any days entry.

But like they say; that ain't all folks! It has loads of stuff for garden layouts, harvests, planting dates, seeds, major purchases, projects and even references. Basically, it is good stuff!

This sounds great! I was just looking through my old blog posts as a way to help jog my memory, but this looks much easier for the little notes.

I want one too, always forgetting what I did last year. Thanks for sharing. Peace for all

Love how you can compare notes from several years on one page! That is destined to be a family heirloom...or joke book depending on the person's gardening abilities :)

whoa, that's going on my birthday list! I just became reinvigorated to actually maintain my journal, but it's just on a legal-size notepad, not even a book. That 10-year format will be *much* easier to compare than flipping back and forth in a legal notepad!

Oh, that's brilliant!! I'm a sucker for a well-thought-out book! And my garden is begging me to journal it. Or else I'm going to have the same issues next year!

And congrats on your 100th post! The garden looks fabulous!

That looks like a nice journal. I have a small 5 year journal that I'm using.

Being able to see that many years all at once sure beats the heck outta sifting through a stack of old journals. I'm gonna take the plunge-its worth it! THanks!

That's really smart! Having all the years at once, being able to compare.... it must also make things much easier at seed ordering time, looking at what works, what didn't, and how much yield from how much seed.... I like!

That is pretty slick. I tried to design my own with a three ring binder, but there is so much ancillary stuff that I am not using it as much as I should, which of course renders it not so useful.

I think my blog will help some, assuming it doesn't disappear in a digital failure.

Hmmmm....that is cool, but might be a hard sell to the wife.
