Looking Good!

I do have a question though. Everyone keeps saying the nasturtiums are edible, but I haven't heard anyone say they taste good.

Do they?

Mike,

Yes! I think they have a slightly bitter and a tad peppery taste. Not good as the sole green in a salad, but a very nice complement to the other leaf lettuces like green and butter. Personally, I like the smaller and less old leaves.

Try some!

Christy, Your garden looks beautiful! I'm a little behind on the nasturtiums but I always love having them around. I really like the texture and the spice.

I have been making stirfries a lot lately--what else to do with broccoli, snap peas, mushrooms, and the occasional sweet potato?

Adding arugula or nasturtium leaves at the end of the cooking gives it such a zing, it's amazing! I had known the flowers were edible, but I didn't know the leaves were too until a few days ago.

They're turning out to be one of my favourite greens! But I'm still waiting on mine to flower--I just seeded them a few weeks ago.

I was just thinking that about the strawberry blooms in the garden that are slowly turning into berries.... the blooms are very pretty, almost ornamental. Same with the mesclun and other greens, they have so many different shapes, shades of color...
